(ENG- FR)The DHIS2 platform has been successful because of the flexibility it offers in terms of use - health, education, agriculture etc. - and in terms of means to interact with it. The ways to interact with DHIS2 have evolved overtime from computer to mobile phones - SMS and smartphones. These two means of communication were critical in the implementation of DHIS2 as a decentralized and real time system that can be operated in most health facilities in developing countries. Despite this technological leapfrog made possible by the rapid growth of mobile internet, many health facilities in rural areas are still having connectivity issues particularly when it comes to data that is time sensitive like disease surveillance data. Furthermore, some stakeholders are finding it challenging to get various outputs generated from DHIS2. In this session, we will be exploring innovations in terms harnessing the power of social media platforms such as Whatsapp and other approaches like Interactive voice response to accommodate various needs in various contexts:
1. Populating DHIS2 event or tracker using whatsapp: his solution allows users either in the context of immediate disease notification or rumors notification to send a message to a given Whatsapp number. The bot will then initiate an interaction with the person reporting and at the end of the interaction, the system will convert the answers into data values and populate the tracker or the event in DHIS2. The same system can be used for rumors notification and has the advantage of not allowing out of context rumors.
2. DHIS2 Analytics Messenger: The DHIS2 Analytics Messenger is an innovative application that gives users easy access to DHIS2 analytics data. Leveraging popular social messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram, this application allows users to receive DHIS2 analytics effortlessly in their social media applications.
3. Interactive voice response (IVR) system: it is similar to the first solution mentioned above but is based on the IVR system and no internet connectivity is required to populate the tracker or the event. The person reporting (registered DHIS2 user or not) just needs to dial a given number, select the language and the system will take her/him through a series of questions and convert the answers into data values to populate the system..
